The Western Digital WD60EFZX belongs to the “red” series of WD RED disks that are specially designed for operation with small and medium NAS systems (Home & small office). It incorporates WD’s proprietary technology, NASware., Which makes the drives in this series suitable for the requirements of a small NAS system.
WD RED hard drives are specifically designed for optimum performance and reliability on a NAS array of RAID arrays. In contrast, desktop hard drives seem like an affordable alternative, but have a higher risk of potential data loss and failure of a continuously operating RAID array.

Compatibility: WD REDs are tested for compatibility with NAS systems. Desktop disks can have problems while completing the creation of a RAID array.
